Leav­ing Hol­guin in an army-style truck, we trav­elled to Bayamo where a pas­sen­ger helped us to get on another truck to San­ti­ago. Dirty and har­assed by a beg­gar, we man­aged to find a casa and relax in the even­ing sun.

The first full day of my trip to Cuba in 2007 with my friend Mat­thew. After being turfed out of our casa and climb­ing the Loma de la Cruz we were price gouged in a res­taur­ant then hustled by a man and two women. At least the casa owner had a plan for us.
