This is a run through of Hitman Blood Money, pro difficulty level, getting silent assassin, retrieving the suit and using as few bullets as possible. This is mission four: A New Life; our target is, only one target this time, and he’s a person within the witness protection programme. Our mission is a bit more complicated this time around because we have to retrieve a microfilm which is what our target is using to obviously implicate our client. I’m going to say straight away that previous narrations have shown that this is a- quite a complicated level to discuss but I’ll try and do my best.

To begin with I went over to the catering truck, waited for the FBI guard to turn around and bugger off, I then put some sedation serum on the doughnuts, took them to the van, opened the door and when I do that, the two FBI guards come out and try to ruffle me up so I drop the doughnuts and go around and they take them in and the picture-in-picture is them eating them and they’re gonna fall over and I’ll grab their suit in a bit. What I’m doing here is I’ve snuck into a house just along the way and I’ve grabbed a bottle of ether, I’ve done that at this point because the woman who was cutting the hedge, she popped her head down which means that you can walk into the house. If she’s got her head up and you walk in in your normal suit she runs across like the good neighbourhood watch person she is and says “You don’t live here.” If I was patient I could have got the, uh, FBI uniform which I’m wearing at the minute and sauntered into the house unhindered. But, it seemed like a good opportunity while the two FBI guards were keeling over.

Uh, you may have noticed there I also stole the video tape which controls some security cameras around the house. They are very very prominent and make the level quite difficult to get into if you don’t steal the video tape or know how you’re getting in. The main problem with this level is that there are a lot of different ways to both get into the house and kill the target and get the microfilm which are all very legitimate ways and they can all get silent assassin, but the- the way I’m demonstrating is simply the way I’ve found works. The- another problem with this level I’ve found is because I’m very very big on only sedating guards and not killing them, I run out of sedation serum very very quickly. I’ve already used one to get this uniform and the way that I’m approaching this level is that I’m going to peel off the guards that are around our target and I’m then gonna kill him. I’m doing a close combat kill on our target here because it is very difficult to get him into an accident situation for an accident kill. The only way that I’ve found is to push him down the stairs; the problem with that is that he doesn’t always die, you have to get him at a very particular angle to go down the stairs before he dies. If he doesn’t die he- he sort of keels over unconscious and somebody will then come along and spot him and he’ll get up and go back into his routine. Unfortunately if he sees you again after he’s fallen down the stairs he will shoot you on sight which, being full of holes is not very good.

What I’m doing here is: I’ve come outside and gone past the pool area and I’m just coming around to a utility shed. I’m waiting at this point because the pool boy who’s gone in there he- he has a key but Hitman doesn’t so you need to pick the lock. However if you follow the pool boy in, you’ll notice there that the doors close and, when they close you have to pick the lock from the inside for some bizarre reason. But because the pool boy’s in there it means he’s always going to see you try and pick the lock. There is a second- I did that to get a, uh, a bottle of lighter fluid. There is a second bottle of lighter fluid in the basement which I could have gone and gotten but, it’s six of one and half a dozen of another, there’s no particular difficulty. I’m rigging the barbecue here to kill the wife of our target because she has a necklace on with microfilm in it which is one of our mission prerequisites. She is one of the only people who I kill in the game who you don’t necessarily have to.

You also might have noticed the game stuttering a bit, I’m not sure what happened but might have just been some unnecessary load on my computer. The man up there in the Aloha shirt who is being tailed by a very, uh, sharply dressed FBI guard, he’s our main target: he’s the one we want to kill. At this point the wife has set herself on fire by lighting the barbecue and that’s my attention meter has shot up into yellow however at this point I’m panicking because there’s an FBI guard who is currently very- very paranoid. They’re paranoid as it is but if I had tried to walk past him my attention meter would have started creeping up into red, which isn’t unheard of in this mission, and it’s only when it gets to full red that they start shooting you but it was a difficult situation because I wanted to get out of the door, but I needed to pick the lock to get out. But Mr Clown came and helped us and he threw open the doors so we could just escape through those.

The clown is a- another way of getting into the house; you sedate the clown and take his uniform and make Hitman just look superb, but when you’re in it’s another way of getting the wife, in that she basically diddles anything with two legs that isn’t an FBI guard or her husband. So she makes a pass at you and you follow her and at that point she’s very very open and you can sedate her or kill her or do what you want; which might have been a more humane way of killing her than setting her on fire, but… They’re computer game characters.

The only thing that remains here is I’ve now got the microfilm off the charred corpse; the only thing that remains is to kill the- our target. What I’m demonstrating here is that while he’s sitting in that chair that window there is actually a valid target to shoot through and I did do it in some play throughs to see if it was possible. The window is armoured and the sniper rifle you can get at this point can penetrate it but your bullet tends to veer off at some really weird angles and I couldn’t figure it out. The resolution to this is when you’re in the FBI van you can use the phone to call, uh, the house phone, and when he goes into the house and answers the phone, our target that is, you can just go up to the window and he’s then right next to it and you can shoot it.

What I’m demonstrating here is another way of getting into the house; so you can shimmy up a drainpipe and drop in here but the problem is that there is a squeaky toy there which will alert people to your presence. There is also a convoluted air rifle situation where you shoot a dog and avoid a video camera and all sorts of things.

This is the final guard that I need to peel off our target; the other one who was, uh, sniffing panties who I put the ether on, that’s- that’s the only other guard there. So I now come in here and try and fibre wire him, but Hitman does a strange neck-breaking solution which while swift is a bit brutal. I now drag this body out of the way, the reason I didn’t do this before going in and killing is because the timing is quite difficult and I’ve been caught dragging that body away, well- by the guy who pulls out his gun and starts shooting you. Uh, the reason which I peeled off the guards was because otherwise they come and they find the body but in this situation they don’t because they’re sedated.

So, now that I’ve killed the main target and taken the microfilm, all that’s left for me to do is to grab my suit and to be away. As I mentioned earlier, the big difficulty with this mission is the paranoid FBI agents and the sheer volume of them. You- in a lot of play throughs that I did, you can stand around, especially in the pool area I noticed, and just standing around, not even in- within any visible sight of them and your attention meter will slowly creep up until they get so suspicious of you they just open fire even in the FBI suit.

So, it’s- like I say, this is one of the ways of doing it but there’s a plethora of other ways that you could use and whatever works for you basically, this is one of the few times that whatever works just do it, don’t overthink it. Anyway, that’s one close combat kill and one accident; time of eight thirty seven and silent assassin.
